Explore the coast on foot

If you enjoy walking, Crogal is the perfect spot! Enjoy waterfalls at the nearby Nanternis Woods, or follow the gorgeous West Wales coast path to the historic smugglers’ cove of Cwm Tydu, the colourful streets and nature reserve of Aberaeron, and the surfing town of Llangrannog. While there, don’t miss the chance to try the traditional seafront sauna.

Discover Ceredigion has also compiled a list of the best walks around New Quay.

Nature-spotting in New Quay

You will soon find that nature is abundant here! You can see wildflowers, birds (we often have red kites and buzzards soaring overhead), seals and – if you are lucky – Europe’s biggest population of bottlenose dolphins. Boat trips leave daily in the summer season from New Quay, but you also have a good chance of a sighting from the coast path.

Skomer Island, one of the best places in the whole world to see puffins, is in nearby Pembrokeshire. Puffin trips are very popular so book early!

Try local food and drink

You’re only a short walk away from the fishing village of New Quay, where you can find fresh fish and chips.

The area is also home to the Welsh Wind Distillery and the fantastic wood-fired pizzeria Tafell a Tan, while Crwst in Cardigan is quickly becoming famous for its bakery.

Visit the vibrant towns and epic scenery of West Wales

You can also follow quiet roads further afield by car, horse or bike – we are within easy reach of the beautiful National Trust beaches Mwnt and Penbryn, the Preseli mountains, and the towns of Cardigan and Aberystwyth.
